Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan (continued)
It is expected that the stripping of the west side soil and replacement on the east side should take
approximately one to two months and will involve the moving of approximately 22,500 cubic yards
of topsoil. The east area will be seeded and mulched according to the plan presented in this
section.
After approximately 4 years of mining on the west side of the unnamed drainage, the only material
left to be mined will be portions of the north berm east of the unnamed drainage. The berm will be
left in place west of the drainage, which is desired by both the landowner and the Colorado
Division of Wildlife to provide protection for the owners occupied dwelling and for the wildlife
using the meadow below.
The north berm will be mined only partially, as shown by the difference in the contours between
Map Exhibit C-] (Mine Plan Map) and Map Exhibit F (Reclamation Plan Map). The area around
the perennial spring, which contains some cottonwood trees and other valuable shrubs, will be left
• untouched. Other azeas of the berm will be reduced to approximately 10 feet to 20 feet in height.
Topsoil stripped from the berm will be used to reclaim the southern portion of the west mine area.
Once the berm is mined (approximately 2 months), final reclamation of the site will occur. All
topsoil from the south berm will be used to reclaim the west mine area and the portions of the north
berm that were mined. It is expected that this amount of soil will be 23,000 cubic yards and will
cover the site with approximately 8-12 inches of soil. Exhibit I describes the baseline soil
conditions of the site.
According to this plan, no more than 15 acres of the site will be disturbed at any one time except
for the very short time when topsoil from the west side is being stripped to reclaim the east side. In
this one to two month period, most of the entire 30.0 acre area will be disturbed but the east portion
will be topsoiled and prepazed for reseeding. The worst case reclamation cost scenario during the
life of the mine occurs at this time and this scenario will be used to determine the reclamation bond
costs as described in Exhibit L.
•
Carol Ann Pernut CDMG Application 2 4
