-- _ ` r"
4} Waste material which is currently hauled to selected
dump areas is composed of reddish brown, sandy limestone and
gypsum rock contaminated with lime and minor amounts of
shales. Waste materials are for the most part, fragmented rock
with little fines and no clays, sandy or silty materials. Cur-
rently, waste dumps are no higher than 50 feet, although completed
waste areas may attain a height of up to 150' as mining progresses
in the next 15-20 years. A D-8 Dozer is employed to insure
adequate compaction of waste materials in the dump areas.
5) Seedlings will be planted at a rate of 350 per acre, or
10-12 foot on center, modified to account for terrain and
esthetic appeal.
6) The seeding rates will be 404k per acre, as stated on page
5 of the Reclamation Plan.
7) As stated in part C, Water Impoundment or Diversion,
Exhibit D, Mining Plan, water diversion or impoundment,
including the use of sediment ponds, will not be used in the
Coaldale operation.
8) Detailed vegetative information can be found by referring
to Exhibit I, & J, Soils and Vegetation. A map of the mine area,
compiled by the Soil Conservation Service, shows all soils types
found on the affected land. The Soils map is keyed to the various
soil types, which include a complete description and detailed
vegetative description, found on the two pages immediately pre-
ceeding the soils map.
9) Three (3) topographic maps of the mine area with projected
topographic details dated 1983, 1990, and 2000, were submitted
with permit application. Reference to these topographic maps
will result in a myriad of cross-sections, depending on the
location of the cross-section line. Since there are thousands
of possible section lines, topographic maps were used for a mere
complete representation of projected topographic changes. In
reference to Rules and Regulations, paragraph 112(3)(e), no request
is noted for a cross-section or outline, but rather a complete
map of proposed topography, which to the best of our ability,
has been submitted with the permit application.
10) Air Quality Permit applications are currently being processed.
If you have any further question regarding the permit application,
please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting
with you at the Board hearings on January 25 and 26, 1978.
Sincerely,
°V S. ~~~
K. S. Klco
Quarry Supt.
KSK/sk
