~J
' ABSTRACT
On October 11-15 and November 1 1993 Thomas J. Lennon of Western Cultural Resource
' Management, Inc. (WCRM) conducted a Class II cultural resource inventory of the Jumbo
Mountain Tract, adjacent to the West F1k Mine, in Delta and Gunnison Counties, Colorado. The
cultural resource study area totalled approximately 1100 acres. The purpose of the inventory
was to identify, document, and evaluate cultural resources lying within the Jumbo Mountain
Tract. Given the location of the tract on the steep, densely vegetated north slopes of Jumbo
Mountain, the Class II inventory focused on open areas and springs areas likely to contain
cultural resources. Lands containing known historic resources also were surveyed and
inventoried. A total of approximately 100 acres were inventoried including five Class II sample
areas, ten spring/pond locations, and six historic site locations. In some cases there was overlap
among the various types of surveyed areas.
A total of six historic sites and one prehistoric isolated find were recorded. None of the sites
are recommended as National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligible and no further work
is recommended.
1
~~
1
1
1
1
1
1
1
r
iv
