I expanded the area for the State permit to give me more room
for error and to allow a small increase in disturbance if I unexpectedly found a pegmatite
leading off the calculated excavation areas. At the time of submission to the State, I
believed I would need to reapply for a new State permit if I wanted or needed to expand
an excavation. This is a costly and timely process, involving weeks of work so I added
some leeway into the plan.
After the submission to the State of this application with the change in area, I confirmed
with Ms. Dobrowolski of the Forest Service the amount of land we were disturbing and
needing to reclaim on an annual basis (up to .75 acre per season for this permit). This is
the amount the Forest Service has based its environmental assessment and bonding
requirements on. The plan of operations filed with the Forest Service is consta~rtly
reviewed and based on the amount of annual disturbance, not so much the planned total
acreage. Nevertheless, I will ensure the Forest Service has my current data for Colorado
Calumet. The most current table is the one included in this application.
