Exhibit I -Soils Information
Four soil types are present within the proposed project area. These include Resort-
Cathedral-Rubble land complex, Cathedral-Rock outcrop complex, Grimstone-Bullwark
family complex, and Ohman-Legault very gravelly sandy looms
Resort-Cathedral-Rubble land complex covers the most area on the proposed site.
These soils occur on 30-60 percent slopes at elevations of 7,600 to 8,800 feet. They are
somewhat excessively drained with moderately rapid permeability of 2.0 to 6.0 inches
per hour. Shrink-swell potential is low at 1.5 percent, runoff class is high, and available
water capacity is very low at about 0.4 inches. Potential native vegetation includes
Arizona fescue, mountain muhly, Griffith wheatgrass, Parry's danthonia, antelope
bitterbrush, wax currant, western wheatgrass, and western snowberry. Atypical profile
consists of 0 tot inch of slightly decomposed plant material (Oi), 1 to 6 inches of very
stony sandy loam (A1), 6 to 14 inches of extremely cobbly loamy sand (A2), and 14 to
18 inches of weathered bedrock (Cr) (USDA, NRCS).
Cathedral-Rock outcrop complex can be found in the southern portion of the site. These
soils occur on 30 to 70 percent slopes at elevations of 7,000 to 8,200 feet. They are well
drained with moderate permeability of 0.6 to 2.0 inches per hour. Shrink-swell potential
is low at about 1.5 percent, runoff class is very high, and available water capacity is
about 0.7 inches. Potential native vegetation includes mountain muhly, Arizona fescue,
Griffith wheatgrass, Parry's danthonia, mountain mahogany, antelope bitterbrush, wax
currant, western wheatgrass, western snowberry, and yucca. Atypical profile consists of
0 to 3 inches of very cobbly coarse sandy loam (A), 3 to 6 inches of very gravelly sandy
loam (AB), 6 to 11 inches of very gravelly sandy loam (Bw), and 11 to 15 inches of
unweathered bedrock (R) (USDA, NRCS).
Grimstone-Bullwark family complex can be found in a small pocket on the eastern side
of the property. These soils have 30 to 60 percent slopes at elevations of 8,100 to 9,700
feet. They are well drained, with moderate permeability of 0.6 to 2.0 inches per hour and
low available water capacity of about 3.5 inches. Shrink-swell potential is low at about
1.5 percent and runoff class is high. Potential native vegetation includes kinnikinnick,
common juniper, Ross' sedge, Woods' rose, bluegrass, and spike fescue. Atypical
profile consists of 0 to 1 inch of slightly decomposed plant material (Oi), 1 to 4 inches of
