" ~ ~.n
With this letter and enclosures we will respond to your technical adequacy issues of October 1, 1996. We will
use the same numerical order in our answers as you have used in your questions.
A)
Exhibit C -Mining Plan; Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan
The flow directions for the three creeks aze now noted on revised Exhibits C and F enclosed. Vendette
Creek dischazges into the ditch along the highway when it seasonally flows. Maryland Creek discharges
through culverts under State Highway 9 and then proceeds to the Blue River. Old Whetstone Creek,
when it seasonally flows, dischazges into the State Highway 9 ditch.
The culverts under State Highway 9 along the property frontage are noted on Exhibit C.
It should be noted that Vendette Creek and Maryland Creek will be left on dikes between the mining
areas. There will be no built up berms or levies on either sides of the creeks. We use the word "dike"
because of its appeazance on the map lying between each of the excavation areas. We propose to leave
these creek channels between the excavation azeas undisturbed.
2) The location and flow direction of the standpipe out of Mining Cell 1 is noted on Exhibits C and F. This
dischazge will occur during the non-irrigation season in order to augment the depletions to the Blue
River. The small amount of water flow will dischazge into the ditch along State Highway 9 and then
proceed into the Blue River.
3) Exhibit C now notes the azea of each of the mining cells. Exhibit F now notes the water surface area of
each of the lakes.
4) Please refer to answer number 2) under D) Exhibit G for the response to this questions.
11990 Grant Street, Suite 410 • Denver, Colorado 80233 • (303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759
