<br />DELCONEY SERIES <br />Taxonomic Classification: Fine-loamy, mixed, mesic family <br />of Ustollic Haplargids. <br />Setting: Delconey soils are on footslopes. They have formed <br />in mixed alluvium and loess, primarily derived from sandstone. <br />Slopes are 6 to 15 percent. <br />General Characteristics: Delconey soils are well-drained <br />with moderate permeability and medium runoff. Vegetation <br />is primarily western wheatgrass, blue grama, other perennial <br />grasses and a few scattered mountain mahogany and other <br />shrubs. <br />• Range in Characteristics: Textures are loam or sandy loam <br />with 20 to 30 percent clay. Coarse fragment content is 0 <br />to 20 percent, primarily concentrated on or near the surface. <br />Reaction is neutral to moderately alkaline with alkalinity <br />increasing with depth.
