• and three annual fortis, redstem fiTaree, flannel mullein, and Jirn Hill
mustard. These introduced species as well as many of the natives such
as prairie pepperweed (Lepidium densiflorum) can be considered "weeds".
With the er,ception of cheatgr•ass, these weeds are not prevalent in the
vegetation composition.
There are no prohibited or restricted noxious weeds (Thornton et al.
1974) in the affected and reference area, although such species are
present elsewhere within the perrnit area. Likewise, there are no
primary selenium indicator plants (WDEQ 19&4). Furthermore, there are
no plants of federal (USDA 1980, 1981) or state (CWAP 1986) concern
present.
3.5 Species Diversity
Seventy vascular plants were ohserved in the upland sagebrush affected
and reference area. Fifty-nine of these plants occur in the affected
• area and forty-four occur in the reference area. Table 8 presents tire
results of an analysis of tire cover data to identify those species with
a relative cover greater than 3 percent.
The species diversity of the two area are quite similar. The reference
area has eight plants with a relative cover greater tirar~ 3 percent while
the affected area has nine. The greatest species diversity is in the
perennial grass category. Each area has four plants in this grouping.
3.6 Data Tables

13
