2002 -18- 003-2203
I • 3.0 GEOSYNTHETICS INSTALLATION
Geosynthetics installed in the Phase IVa Area consisted of geotextile, geogrid, and
geomembrane. Twelve-ounce, non-woven geotextile manufactured by Amoco Fabrics and
Fibers Company (Amoco) of Austell, Georgia, and 40-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane
manufactured by Poly-Flex of Grand Prairie, Texas were used to construct the LDT for the
Phase IVa Area. The Phase fVa OSA composite Iiner system included 80-mil single-sided
textured LLDPE geomembrane manufactured by Poly-Flex of Grand Prairie, Texas. The
Underdrains were constructed with 12-ounce non-woven geotextile manufactured by Amoco.
Geogrid manufactured by TENSAR was used in the remediation of select underground
workings as noted in Section 2.1.
3.1 Underdrains
• Geosynthetics installation for the Primary and Secondary Underdrains was performed by Ames,
and included deployment of 12-ounce non-woven geotextile. Ames installed approximately
56,162 square feet of geotextile to construct the Underdrains. Underdrain construction is
discussed further in Section 2.2.
3.2 Leak Detection Trench
Ames installed 12-ounce non-woven geotextile and 40-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane in
the LDT for the Phase IVa Area. Ames installed approximately 11,380 square feet of
geotextile and 6,828 square feet of geomembrane for the LDT. To construct the LDT, Ames
placed a layer of 40-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane in the LDT, and laid geotextile over
the geomembrane. After piping and LDF were placed in the trench, the geotextile was
wrapped around the fill with a minimum 1-foot overlap, as shown in Detail I, Drawing 14.
Poly-Flex extrusion welded geomembrane seams in the LDT. LDT construction is discussed
• further in Section 2.3.
~:~omzzoowaomcnwroosozwoszzo3.oaao.oa~aam.doc Golder Associates
