<br />• <br />u <br />SITE SUh1h1ARY <br />Smithsonian Number 5h1F465 <br />Temporary Number Site ;~1. <br />Cultural/Temporal <br />Affiliation Abor iginal/Euro-American ?-1977 <br />Site Type Rock Art (Pictograph)/Rock Shelter <br />Site Description Site consists of three localities of rock <br /> art (pictographs) and three areas of s.~elter. <br /> The site is located on a large sandstone out- <br /> crop at the confluence of Elkhorn Creek and <br /> Good Spring Creek. Of the three shelters, <br /> B.2 is the most protective with what appears <br /> to b e more deposition than the others. The <br /> floo r in B.2 is level and the shelter is more <br /> of a pocket in the rock as compared to over- <br /> hang protection. <br />Present Condition There may have been disturbance to the site <br />from vandalism. [Feathering has softened the <br />rock considerably and exfoliation is present <br />on all the shelter ceilings. <br />Site Significance <br />and P;ational Register <br />Eligibility The site is considered significant and has <br />good research potential. NRHP eligibility has <br />a high potential depending on subsurface de- <br />posits and correlation of rock art pictographs <br />with other known styles. <br />9 <br />
