Ms. Katy F. McInty~ ~ -2- • • September 15, 1983
3. Please assess how many acres of each soil type are found in each
phase of the operation, maximum and minimum stripping depths and quality
for use in reclamation.
H. Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
d.. Please outline how many cubic yards of topsoil and overburden will be
replaced on each phase together with the haul distance.
3, To minimize the size of the financial warranty, the operator must
commit to a maximum disturbance to exist during operation of this mine.
y. I must point out that the reclamation cost figures for 50 acres of
reclamation are extremely low. The staff will review this exhibit based
upon receipt of the requested data.
In order to properly respond to these questions, the operator will need to
provide an on site description of the soils at the SCS order 2 level.
Please be as detailed as possible in your response to avoid the potential
need of an additional adequacy letter.
I will present your request fora continuance to the Mined Land Reclamation
Board at the September 21-22, 1983 meeting. I do not see any problem
with having this matter continued to the October 26-27, 1983 meeting to allow
you additional time to notify adjacent landowners. Please send me the ',
proof of landowner and adjacent landowner notification as soon as they are
available.
Feel free to contact me if there are any questions.
Sincerely,
,~,~ ~_ ~e ~~~
James B. McArdle
Senior'Reclamation Specialist
JBM/tlh
