RE: File number 81-293. Pit No. 2. Crow Creek,
at this site, is relatively undefined being a
depression of only two to three feet deep for the
approximate width shown on Exhibit C. The depres-
sion forming the drainage way consists of relatively
flat sided slopes of about 10 feet horizontally to
one foot vertically. These slopes will be maintained
and replaced. During actual mining operations, any
drainage in the creek will be diverted by mounds
adjacent to excavated areas equal in height (2' to
3') to the difference in elevation from adjacent
land to the bottom of the creek. Bank stability
at each site will be provided by reclamation and
seeding processes as shown in the Soil Conservation
Service recommendations. The County will rehabili-
tate the area and slopes of finished area in like
manner to all adjacent surface areas as stated in
the Application for each site.
All stockpiles, if used, will be located
parallel to and as far from the banks of trie creeks
and within the permitted area. The County's
operation does not consist of stockpiling at
either Pit No. 2 or Pit No. 3. The material is
removed directly from the pit to trucks as needed
thereby eliminating need for stockpiles.
The County is unaware of the existence of any
cottonwood trees at any of the sites.
Topsoil salvage, where topsoil exists, will
occur on all disturbed areas of each site. See
detail to be followed as recommended by the Soil
Conservation Service letter included as an Exhibit
with each Agplication.
7. Proof of publication and notification will follow.
Local approval for File number 81-287 was obtained
on January 19, 1981 from the Weld County Planning
Commission. Documentation will be forwarded when
recieved by this office.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely, ~
Drew L. Scheltinga
Acting Director of Engineering
DLS:sc
