We did not publish public
notice early enough to make the January Board Meeting.
The following is in response to our review letter of
January 5, 1982. The items are numbered following your
letter.
1. The depths of topsoil are identified in each
instance as less than 6" except Arnusch (Pit #3)
which is less than 3" and Younalund (Pit #10)
which is less than 4". Topsoil will be replaced
at all sites, except Pit #3 and Pit #10 to a
minimum depth of 4". Exhibit B of Pit #3 states
that the lands have no topsoil on the north pit,
while the south pit has less than 3". As a
result, no topsoil will be replaced on the north
side, while a minimum of 2" will be replaced on
the south pit.
The County intends to comply with the
recommendations for soil rehibilitation or
treatment plan as shown in each application
under Exhibit E in accordance with the Soil
Conservation Service USDR letter which is a part
of each application.
The topsoil will be stockpiled in a conso-
lidated manner, out of the way of other mining
activities, identified at the site, and stabilized
with a suitable vegetative cover if left undisturbed
for more than one growning season, all in accordance
with the recommendations of the Soil Conservation
