I will treat the two operations one at a time
below.
Buffalo No. 1 Piine
It is now clear that this mine has two distinct areas that comprise the permit
area. Since the northern area cannot be reclaimed by using topsoil and
planting as was committed to in the original permit application. I feel that
the permit should be revised to reflect the actual reclamation plans for this
part of the permit as soon as possible. Since this entire permit area is to
be reclaimed soon. I feel that you should try to submit this as a technical
revision to the permit.
I still feel that, although the legal description for this operation has been
clarified, the map showing the five permitted acres is not precise enough,
especially since the northern area is immediately adjacent to the Buffalo
No. 2 Mine. Therefore, please make a smaller scale map (showing the exact
5 acres of this permit) a part of your technical revision submission.
I should also mention that, within the context of last Monday's discussion,
your annual report (received August 5, 1982) is adequate. I should also
mention that, as you know, any prospecting disturbing more than 1,600 sq.ft.!
acre must be permitted by filing a notice of intent to conduct prospecting
with our Division. I suggest that you contact Linda Sdalker of our Division
staff if you have any questions concerning your prospecting plans.
