Exhibit D CMLRR 112 Permit application
Agile Stone Systems. Inc.
• Consumptive water use at the granite quarry will be for the same purposes as at the gravel
bar plant and road areas. Water will either evaporate or readily percolate into and
exfiltrate through the weathered granite gravels and soils underlying the granite plant and
stockpile azea into the Tallahassee Creek drainage. If any drainage occurs, which is not
expected based on use levels and sediment percolation results, the stormwater pond will
handle any water and/or associated sediment.
7.3 Water Protection
Ground and surface water will be protected during mining and reclamation by limiting
the areas where equipment maintenance and fueling can be conducted and monitoring sub
surface waters for any pollution from mining operations. All equipment maintenance and
fueling will occur at the service area on the gravel bar. Any spills will be cleaned up
immediately after discovery. Spills of toxic or hazardous materials will be properly
reported to the appropriate state and local government agencies. Project personnel will
be trained to quickly and safely remediate any event involving the spill of any petroleum
or hazardous material.
Bulk fuel storage tanks will be placed on lined pads. Berms will provide for containment
of the tank installed plus freeboard of 12". Engineered drawings (Verkaik Engineers
12/97) show the construction characteristics of the fuel storage area. The fuel storage
azea will be regulazly inspected for leaks or spills. Mobile mine equipment will enter the
• fuel storage/containment area for fueling, further reducing the risk of spillage during
fueling operations. Other petroleum products will be stored in labeled and sealed
containers and regulazly inspected. Equipment and vehicles will be regulazly inspected
for leaks and any leaks promptly repaired.
All fertilizer material will be obtained in waterproof or water-resistant bags. Each bag
will be mazked with the weight and manufacturer's guazanteed analysis of the contents
showing the percentage of each ingredient contained. Fertilizer will be applied only at
the rate recommended from soil analyses. Solid fertilizer will be worked into the soil
upon application to reduce the amount of fertilizer exposed at the surface and susceptible
to erosion during unlikely rain water runoff.
No hazardous waste materials will be disposed of on site.
All wash down operations will be located on a concrete slab draining to an approved
oiUwater sepazator system for isolation of petroleum contaminants for proper disposal off
site by a licensed disposal company. All used engine oils and solvents will be retained
for haulage off site by a licensed disposal contractor.
Monitoring wells have been drilled and will be maintained to sample water leaving the
site. Water samples will be tested to ensure that any exfiltrating water is free of any
pollutant generated from the mining project.
•
28
