-• composition (for seasonality), and (4) adequate establishment
1
' of woody plant density (for forage andfor shelter).
Final evaluation of revegetation success will occur
during the final two years of the bonding period Yor any
particular parcel of revegetated land. To determine
revegetation success, the reclaimed areas and the reference
areas will be sampled to evaluate cover, production, density
and species composition.
Sampling techniques to determine vegetative cover on
reclaimed lands and vegetation reference areas will be the
same techniques employed in the baseline vegetation inventory.
Both total cover (single-layer vegetation, litter-rock, and
bare ground) and cover by species (multiple-layer vegetation,
• litter-rock and bare ground) will be estimated.
Determination of production levels on reclaimed and
reference areas will utilize the same analytical methods
used in the baseline vegetation inventory. Plants will be
clipped by life-form and major species, dried, weighed and
_: productive annual yield calculated in pounds per acre.
Formulas used for determining adequate cover and
production levels will be the same as those presented in
Appendix A of this report or appropriate updated Division
guidelines or mandates available at that time..
Cover determinations by species will provide data to
evaluate species diversity on the reclaimed areas.
