Drill seeding will <br />,_ be done on the contour where slopes permit. <br /> <br />II-4.0 REPEGETATION SIICCESS AND MONITORING <br />II-4.1 Pegetation Reference Areas <br />During implementation of the baseline vegetation studies, <br />two reference areas were established for each of the <br />vegetation types delineated on the strip mine study Brea. <br />r <br />,_ Due to the relatively small amount of disturbance planned <br />-- for the underground portal study area, no reference areas <br />were established. Success of revegetation in this area will <br />_ • be determined by standards set by the pre-mining vegetation <br />inventory for the big sagebrush type. This type is discussed <br />in the Vegetation Inventory. <br />- Both reference areas were sampled for production, cover, <br />woody plant density and species diversity. For the strip <br />~ mine study area these reference areas will be used for woody <br />` plant density and diversity comparisons when determining <br />_, revegetation success for the mountain shrub type and <br />pinyon-juniper types.
