,.•~,
Therefore the seed and stocking mixtures proposed for
revegetation of this site are geared toward reestablishing
_ a big sagebrush - grassland community. All areas disturbed
on this site will be drill seeded with a conventional
r' rangeland drill at the following PLS rate.
- Western wheatgrass 5#/acre
(Agropyron smithii)
_ Thickspike wheatgrass 5#/acre
(Agropyron dasystachyum)
Green needlegrass 3#/acre
(Stipa viridula)
Big sagebrush .5#/acre
(Artemisia tridentata)
Total 73.5#/acre
II-3.6 Stand r^,stablishment
Based on average number of seeds per pound and the
- herbaceous mixture rates of 13.5-18 pounds pure live seed
- per acre, the mixtures discussed above would average in excess
of 35 plants per square foot if all seeds germinated
_- successfully. The environment (particularly precipitation)
_ could not support this seedling density indefinitely, however
- seed and seedling mortality will eventually thin the initisl
` stand to a density compatible with the environment.
r~
- 49 -
