Mr. Leroy Belt
-3-
~J
Julb 18, 1984
3. Water desources: Given the proximity of the present per it area to
the creek, the previously submitted information concerni g water
should be re-evaluated, and new information should be su mitted.
~J Reference my comments under Exhibit B, question 2.
Exhibit E
111. Given the proximity of the present permit area to Mill C eek, please
V re-evaluate your reclamation plan in light of:
~a. The possibility of a lake forming in the pit;
~b. The need to reclaim lake shores with tree plantings swell as a
grass seed mix;
dc. The need to protect the stream in final reclamation; and
~d. Any interactions with the stream channel or ground w ter
produced by the new location of the permit area (e.g ,
riprapping of any new bank areas).
2. I prefer the reclamation seeding mixture of four species given to
you by the Soil Conservation Service to the one given in your
reclamation plan. I would suggest that you commit to th t mixture,
accompanied by your plans (as given in Exhibit E) for mu thing,
fertilization and drilling of the seed. Please clarify our plans
in this regard.
3. Please clarify your plans for topsoil replacement depth, given the
new location of mining. All available topsoil should be used in
reclamation activities.
4. Any replacement maps of the reclaimed topography, should you wish to
V submit them, should be of the present permit area.
Fxhihit H
1. Since you submitted no reclamation costs, I will presume you wish
I the amount of the financial warranty to be set at $5,000 00 and will
v plan to recommend that amount to the Board.
Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~,
Mark S.
