for those old mining areas except to spread remai ing top-
soil as far as it will go. The areas of the North Central
• Phase which will be redisturbed are indicated on Plate 4.
These areas will be staked out on the site.
(5) After operations are complete in the North Central
Phase, mining will proceed in other phases as indi ated in
Table 1. In order to properly manage water resourc s within
the affected land, the South Central Phase wil be the
second area mined. Topsoil, which covers the entire South
Central Phase, will be removed and stockpiled as i dicated
in Exhibit C, Plate 4. Two small areas of conifers will
also be felled, cut and sold as fire wood. Wil ows and
other non-usable vegetation will be dozed into a ile and
burned. An impoundment will be constructed in this area as
indicated in Plate 4 for water management purpos s. The
pond will be constructed in a backfilled area and will be
deep to assure no breech will occur. No discharge from this
impoundment to surface waters will occur.
(6) All materials beneath the topsoil are pot ntially
ore-bearing, so there will be no over-burden stoc oiling.
'Phe mineral bearing material will be excavated with a back-
hoe, a drag line or a dozer/ripper tractor. The epth of
each pit will be determined by the depth of bedroc Over
the project site the depth to bedrock varies Erom 0 to 60
Eeet. Panhandle Drilling intends to excavate to be rock in
all areas. The slope of the working face will vary from 50
• to 100 percent. The expected size of the working pi is 200
Eeet x 200 feet. I
(7) The mineral bearing material will be loaded o to dump
trucks and hauled to the processing plant. It is a timated
that a maximum of 30,000 cubic yards of ore would b stock-
piled at any one time, and it would be 250 feet x 50 feet
and 20 feet in height.
(8) Once the initial material is removed from successively
cuts, backEilling into the same cut can commenc Over-
sized material, consisting of boulders and larger ravels,
will be the Eirst material to be backfilled into he pit.
Backfilled materials will be uniformly distribute in the
cut. Material swell above the original ground surEa e of up
to 608 is expected.
Processing
A schematic of the processing site is presented in F'gure 1.
(1) Production rates at the processing plant will ~egin at
2,000 to 3,000 yards per day and increase to up t 10,000
yards per day as the mining rate increases. ~
(2) As described above, a plant feed stockpilelwill be
maintained near the processing plant.
8
