- 3 - <br />SCOPE ~_ <br />This report presents the results of a geotechnical site evalua- <br />tion for the proposed Mt. Gunnison Mine surface facilities to be <br />located east of Somerset, Gunnison County, Colorado. The general <br />snipe and conditions of the evaluation are outlined in our agreement <br />dated May 6, 1980. The followi^3 report discusses the general site <br />and subsoil conditions within. the proposed improvement areas and <br />presents recommendations for emban]®ent arm foundation design, allow- <br />able bearing pressures together with other soil-related design and <br />construction details. A report prepared by International Engineering <br />Cody, Incorporated, dated December 1976, which presents geoteohni- <br />cal data and recommendations for development at the site was utilized <br />as background information to this report. Specific geologic and <br />hydrologic aspects for developirKnt at the site have nit been <br />considered in this report. <br />PPOPO5ED ~TR~TICN <br />The proposed development will consist of numerous ponds, strur <br />tares and access/haulroad and railroad spur located approximately as <br />shown on Figs. 2 and ?A. A general description of the proposed <br />construction is as follows: <br />Access/Haulroad: The roadway will be constructed from the plant <br />entrance at the northeast corner of the site leading to the upper <br />facilities and eventually extending to the coal refuse area.
