Gnnitsti ~ ~~ont.~
our NPDES permit no. CO-38181. To date, we have not had to use this permit.
' It is estimated that under normal conditions, the pit will operate 270
' days per year. Sixty eight of these days are expected to be summer days
with 6,000 gallons of wal:er being used per day for dust suppression on 1.8
' acres of road. The balance of 202 days will be spring, fall, and winter days
with maximum water usage expected to be 3,000 gallons per day. There will be
no wash plant on the property. All material will be transported by conveyor
to the existing plant to the east on the County property. Total consumptive
water usage is estimated to be 1,014,000 gallons per year or 3.11 acre-feet
' per year.
' Purchase of the property includes .67 cubic feet per second of irrigation
water from water well #5970. It is expected that a change of use from agri-
cultural to industrial will meet water needs for the mining project now and
in the future.

The effect of runoff water on surrounding lands will not be a problem. ~
_ Na w
Drainage will be directed around the mining operation with provisions made
to allow excessive water runoff to flow into the lake for flood protection
purposes only.
There will be no water used for reclamation. We do not plan to irrigate
the revegetated land. Whenever possible, overburden materials will be used bw7,.,~?
to backfill and reduce water area.
It is the operator's intention during mining, after mining, and during

1
1

reclamation, to minimize the disturbances to the prevailing hydrological
balance of the affected land, the surrounding area, and to the quality and
quantity of water in surface as well as groundwater systems. The operator
believes it is in compliance with Federal and state laws and regulations
governing water and water rights. There is no application of the river
(14)
