L~~ COMMERCIAL TESTING & ENGINEERING CO.
~~IET~IODS cont.
Aeration/pH Adjustment Test (pH 10) -Twenty D. magna were exposed to a dilution water
blank and 50%, 75%, and 100% effluent adjusted to pH 10 with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and
vigorously aerated for one hour. Prior to organism exposure the effluent was readjusted back to
pHi with Hydrochloric Acid (HCl). Dilutions were prepared with reconstituted laboratory water
at 220 mg/L CaC03.
Aeration/pH Unadjustment Test (pHi) -Twenty D. magna were exposed to a dilution water
blank and 50%, 75%, and 100% effluent, without pH adjustment, and vigorously aerated for one
hour. Dilutions were prepared with reconstituted laboratory water at 220 mg/L CaC03.
Post Crs SPE Column Test (pHi) -Twenty D. magna were exposed to a dilution water blank
and 50%, 75%, and 100% effluent filtered through a post C,$ SPE column. Dilutions were
prepared with reconstituted laboratory water at 220 mg/L CaC03.
EDTA Chelation Addition Test (pHi) -Twenty D. magna were exposed to a dilution water
blank and 50%, 75%, and 100% effluent spiked with EDTA salt stock solution (2500 mg/L) to
achieve a final concentration of 3.0 mg/L. Dilutions were prepazed with reconstituted laboratory
water at 220 mg/L CaC03,
Acid/Base Ion Exchange Resin Test -Twenty D. magna were exposed to a dilution water blank
and 50%, 75%, and 100% effluent that was filtered through anacid/base ion exchange resin
capsule using a vacuum pump. Dilutions were prepazed with reconstituted laboratory water at
220 mg/L CaCOs.
Metals analysis was performed using Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) and Graphite Furnace
analysis by EPA method 600 4.1.4.
Chloride was determined by Standazd Method (SM) 4500-CI-E. Sulfate was determined by SM
4500-SOa-C. SM 2320-B determined alkalinity. SM 2540-C determined TDS.
a
