Prellminerv Construction Plen. Construction will be performed in such a manner to adhere <br />to standard and sound engineering and construction practices. The following narrative <br />lists the various phases of construction end a brief deseript ion for each phase: <br />1. Clearing end CrubbinB - All trees, logs, brush, sod, end debris of ell kinds, both <br />standing and fallen will be cleared and disposed of without damage to adjoining <br />property. <br />2. Topsoil Removal and Placement in Designated Areas - All recoverable topsoil <br />containing organic or other deleterious materiel will be removed and placed in <br />designated areas. Estimated depths of topsoil that will be removed are shown on <br />Exhibit 9.1 "Soil Types and Topsoil Salvage Mep" in the Toast Permit Application. <br />All topsoil removal end placement operations will be performed in accordance with <br />Colorado Rules and Regulations. <br />3. Earthwork - AlI work covered by this section consists of hauling, wetting or drying, <br />rolling, end other operations for constructfng and preparing the earthwork in <br />accordance with standard sound engineering and construction practices. <br />A. Excavation. Excavation will consist of the removal end satisfactory placement <br />of all materials to lines, grades, end cross section for construction. Grading <br />will be done to conform with the typical sections. <br />1. Slopes. Slopes of all excavations will be cut true and straight and all <br />loose stones, boulders, roots, end stumps in the slopes will be removed. <br />2. Benches. Benches will be cut into the existing slopes to form "keys" for <br />the dam embankment to better adhere to the existing slopes. <br />3. Disposal of Excavated Raterial. Any excavated materiel in excess of that <br />required for the dam embankment will be hauled to the mining area for <br />disposal. <br />4. Unsuitable Material. Any unsuitable materiel encountered shell be disposed <br />of in accordance with Colorado Rules end Regulations. <br />B. Embankment Construction. Embankment construction will consist of the placement <br />of all materials to lines, grades, end cross section. Grading will be done to <br />eonf orm with Exhibit 73-4. <br />A keyway will be cut below existing ground. Material from the facilities <br />excavation area will be placed in the keyway. the placing end spreading of fill <br />material will proceed from the lowest point on the embankment (keyway) in <br />eight-inch horizontal layers to allow for a minimum compaction of 95 percent of <br />13-3-10 Revised 03/OL/95 <br />
