5. The use will not substantially disturb uniquely sensitive environmental
features including wetlands, riparian habitats, other critical wildlife
habitats and rare or unusual natural features.
Staff is not aware of any uniquely sensitive environ-
mental features within the specific mining area.
Recommended conditions of approval and imple-
mentation of revised erosion control plan should
mitigate the sediment-related impacts on riparian
areas and Beaver Creek. The Division of Wildlife has
specifically requested that information be provided
regarding the haul road crossing on Beaver Creek,
which is now intended to be a low water crossing
rather than culverts or a bridge.
6. The use will not substantially disturb identified historical, archaeological
and paleontological sites.
The applicant has indicated in their submittal that
there are no known historical, archaeological, or
paleontological sites impacted by the proposal.
7. The site and associated special use operations will be adequately
buffered from surrounding properties and uses.
The applicant is the owner of the lands immediately
surrounding the mining area. The site is naturally
poorly buffered from views from properties located to
the east. Residential properties to the west are more
than one-half mile away and will not likely be able to
view the operation from their homes. The site will not
be operating at night, so there will be no lighting-
related impacts. Some noise from the screening
plant may occur in the first phase of the operation
until the plant is able to relocate to the pit floor.
8. Adequate water supplieswill be available for drinking, dust control,
landscaping, general operations and effective reclamation.
The applicant has indicated that a water truck will be
stationed at the site for dust suppression and
reclamation. Water will be purchased from nearby
municipal sources. Drinking water will be supplied by
bottled water hauled daily.
9. Adverse impacts to adjacent properties and travelers from vibration,
noise, glare, blowing or flowing materials, or odors will be minimal.
