are, will need to be seeded to protect them. These will be
• seeded with the following mixture. The seed will be
broadcast.
SPECIES RATE (#PLS/ACRE-BROADCAST)
Intermediate Wheatgrass 5
Russian Wildrye 4
White Clover 1.25
10.25
In this mixture the White Clover will provide some
organic nitrogen when the soil is replaced and the grasses
.gill provide some additional protection from erosion. Some
carryover into the final seeding via vegetative and
reproductive propagules will occur, but it should amount to
not more than about 10% of the final mixture thereby not
causing unnecessary and undesirable imbalance in the final
seed mixture.
Mulch will be applied on south and west facing slopes.
The mulch will be straw crimped in and applied at the rate
of 2000 pounds per acre. Mulched areas will receive an
extra 25 pounds of N per acre to allow for nitrogen
• utilization in the decomposition process so as to prevent
developing an undesirable C/N ratio and it's resulting
nitrogen deficiencies. Level, east, and north facing slopes
should not need a mulch if topsoiled to the proper depth.
The seeded areas will be periodically examined in a
search for weed densities and, in particular, the presence
of noxious weed species. Areas of excessive weed densities
that appear to be causing excessive moisture competition
will be mowed unless the weeds are noxious species. If
noxious weeds are found selective spraying with an
appropriate chemical agent will be used. General spraying
will be used only if a general infestation is found. The
selective approach helps retain as much clover as possible.
If a general treatment is needed and performed and the
clover killed, it will be re-established after the noxious
weeds are controlled.
No irrigation will be used to establish the vegetation.
It is not deemed necessary in this area. Also, the final
growth resulting from revegetation without irrigation is
usually more capable of withstanding the extremes of
climate.

- 18 -
