2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING <br />ACTIViT1ES--MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND <br />RECLAMATION PLANS <br />2.05.1 Objectives <br />The objective of this part is to insure that the CMLRD is provided with a comprehensive <br />and reliable plan for the surface coal mining and reclamation operations in accordance with <br />the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Article 33 of Title 34, as amended, <br />Colorado Revised Statutes of 1973, and the rules and regulations pursuant thereto. This <br />permit addresses only the reclamation phases of the project <br />2.05.2 Operation Plan -Estimated Area for Life of Operation <br />The Chimney Rock Mine is currently in the final phase of reclamation of disturbed areas <br />created by mining operations. As such, all operations information contained within this <br />Permit document is related to reclamation of the site. <br />2.05.3 Oneration Plan -Permit Area <br />All of the facilities needed for support of the reclamation operations are already in place. <br />These facilities were constructed and are covered under the approved minor revision number <br />33 for permit No. C-31-023. These facilities include the new shop building, old shop building, <br />• office trailer, parts trailer, concrete pad, truck turnaround, improved (gravel) access road to <br />the facilities area, access road to the east fill area, and access road to Stollsteimer Creek. <br />Final grading and topography for the roads and facilities pad have been designed to provide <br />long-term stability. Location of these facilities can be found on the Reclaimed Area Map <br />(Map 7). These facilities have been retained to enhance the post mining land use of grazing. <br />A general description of the reclamation and other facilities to be retained is included in this <br />section. <br />Existin¢ Structures <br />The office consists of a 70 foot trailer, which has been in place since 1976. It houses the <br />mine office and sanitary facilities (showers and toilets). Domestic water is supplied to the <br />office by a nearby well. The sanitary facilities are serviced by a septic system. <br />The large equipment maintenance shop, used to service and repair the larger mine <br />equipment, consists of a skid mounted steel structure on a gravel floor. The structure is <br />approximately 40 by 50 feet. <br />The small equipment maintenance shop, used to service and repair equipment, consists of <br />a steel structure placed on a concrete footer and stemwall. The shop and the associated <br />equipment parking area occupies approximately 1 acre. Electrical service to the shop is <br />. provided by a power transmission line installed by La Plata Rural Electric Association. <br />2.05-1 Revised 12-20-91 <br />
