It is anticipated that temporary occupancy of USFS lands will be necessary until Panel 13A is <br />completed in January 2001. When Panel 13A is completed, MCC will commence with final <br />reclamation of the site. <br />MCC successfully completed 43 drill holes into the mine, installed seventeen cement/ fly-ash seals, <br />pumped 40 million gallons of water to the drill sites, and has made substantial progress in <br />extinguishing the source(s) of the combustion in the abandoned gob azea. The pumping of water and <br />monitoring of drill holes for temperature, water levels, and gas sampling will continue until Pane] 13A <br />is completed. Interim reclamation activities have commenced and include the re-grading of sub-soil to <br />approximate original contour, re-distribution of topsoil, seeding, fertilizing, mulching, and installation <br />of sediment control measures. Interim reclamation will be performed in areas that aze no longer <br />needed now or during the mining of Panel 13A for monitoring or water injection. <br />Enclosed with this permit application aze the spread sheet, maps, and drawings depicting the drill hole <br />locations, seal locations, emergency drill hole data, typical equipment list, surface disturbed areas, and <br />areas of projected interim reclamation. MCC has copied the USFS with this information in the form of <br />periodic updates and the letter dated May 19, 2000, to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />is included with this application for reference. <br />
