.1 . ,
EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
This gravel pit, to be known as the "Chambers Pit", is adjacent
to our "Mountain Mobile Mix - Rifle Pit", which is being operated
under a Limited Impact Permit No. 77-120 and it is hereby requested
that these two pits, being adjacent, he incorporated into this ~.~'
Permit Application for a No. 112 Regular Permit. The Mountain
Mobile Mix - Rifle Pit has been approved and permitted, therefore,
the "Mining Plan" for this pit remains as submitted. The Chambers
Pit has been mined in prior years by many different operators and
the most recent operator had stripped a large area of the top soil
and over burden which is stockpiled along the north bank of the
Colorado River which is visible in the photos and aerial map marked
"Exhibit C". The affected land of the Chambers Pit is outlined on
the aerial map marked "Exhibit C" which is east of the gas line
which is on the western boundary of this property and north of the
Colorado River. There is an existing abandoned pit, which is now
a lake, located within the affected area that would be left in
its present state. As mentioned, a previous operator had stripped
that area between this lake and the Colorado River and had stock-
piled and preserved the top soil and overburden in an orderly
fashion which left an area of six acres in size ready to be mined.
The mining will commence at the east end of this area leaving a
fifty foot berm between the pit and the Colorado River and a twenty
five foot berm between the pit and the now existing lake. The pit
run material will be removed with earthmoving scrapers, dozers,
front-end loaders, and/or draglines to a depth of twenty five feet
or to the depth of shale material. The depth and width of the pit
will be uniform and will be mined from east to west by removing
the pit run material and stockpiling on the bank west of the lake
and then crushing and screening to size. The mining of this
presently stripped area will be carried out in equal stages and ~
should reach the western boundary of this property in eight years
of operation then the mining operation will be carried out in the
same manner following the western boundary from south to north
leaving a twenty five foot berm along the western boundary and a
twenty five foot berm along the east edge of the pit between the '
pit and the lake. This phase of the mining operation is estimated ,. ~
to be slightly less than three acres in size and should be com-
pleted within four additional years, having the total mining
operation completed during the year 1991. During the periods of
mining, dewatering may become necessary and this would be done by
pumping from the mined pit to an adjacent, unused pit area.
Sloping of all banks will be covered in the "Reclamation Plan". ~
Reclamation will start on the area first mined and will commence
during the season of 1984 and will be carried out in three year
intervals.
