4-113 <br />• acre. Salina wildrye produces 84 percent of the total biomass <br />(43.2 g/m2). Forb production is low with 3.7 g/m2. See Table <br />4.8-14. <br />Density <br />Tree density is moderate in this vegetation type at 112 per <br />acre. Utah juniper accounts for 96 percent of this total (108 <br />trees per acre). Pinyon pine is scattered through the woodland <br />at a low density, 4 trees per acre. See Table 4.8-15. <br />Average total shrub density is relatively low, 1,602 shrubs <br />per acre. A variety of shrubs make up this total including: <br />mountain mahogany (608 shrubs per acre), the dominant species; <br />. low rabbitbrush (463 shrubs per acre); mountain pepperwood (112 <br /> shrubs per acre); and Utah serviceberry Ame~ancktien U~ahena~e <br />(95 shrubs per acre). Other shrubs include: big sagebrush, <br />rubber rabbitbrosh, Mormon tea Ephedna v~ntid~b, single leaf ash <br />Fh.azinue anomaQa,Gambel oak ~ueheua gambeQ~~, mountain snow- <br />berry, broom snakeweed, and Spanish bayonet yucca gCauca. See <br />Table 4.5-16. <br />Diversity <br />Species richness is relatively high in this vegetation type (index <br />= I6.I4) probably as a result of the varied topography. Equit- <br />ability, although low (index = 0.86), is higher than the other <br />vegetation types studied. The high equitability illustrates <br /> how the vegetation cover is distributed rather evenly among many <br /> species. See Table 4.8-6. <br />
