Litter, soil, and rock cover <br />are all relatively high with 24.0, 17.0, and 15.8 percent cover, <br />respectively. See Table 4.8-13. <br />Utah juniper Jun~pertua oh~eoapenma is the dominant tree (11.8 <br />percent cover) followed by pinyon pine Ptinub edu2~a with a cover <br />of 2.5 percent. Trees increase in abundance on the moister north- <br />facing slopes. Mountain mahogany Certcocahpub mon.tanua with a <br />cover of 3.8 percent is the major understory shrub species. Other <br />shrubs contributing to the understory wood cover include low rabbit= <br />brush Chrtyho~hamnua v~ac~d~b2ohuh, big sagebrush, snowberry <br />• Symphortticartpoa orteoph~Que, mountain pepperweed, and broom snake- <br />weed. <br />Salina wildrye is the dominant graminoid species with an average <br />of 16.3 percent cover. Other common graminoids are: cheatgrass <br />(1.8 percent cover), Indian ricegrass (1.5 percent cover), and <br />Sandberg bluegrass Poa cf. aandbertgtiti (1.3 percent cover). <br />Forb cover is sparse. Forbs sparsely represented include: milk- <br />vetch AbZrtaga2ua sp., mouse-ear Certaa#tum sp., curlycup gumweed, <br />northern sweetvetch Nedyaartum borteaQe, and tumble-mustard. <br />Production <br />Average estimated production on this vegetation type ranges from <br />• 16.4 g/m2 to 109.2 g/m2 and averages 51.4 g/m2 or 458 pounds per <br />
