The vegetation <br />is mainly a big sage brush-shrubland community. <br />The Rivra variant is a member of the loamy-skeletal, mixed, <br />frigid family of Ustic Torrifluvents. A representative profile <br />of the Rivra gravelly loam variant, sample point MU7, in map unit <br />RiAB, about 130 feet east and 175 feet south of the northwest <br />corner of the southwest quarter of Section 28, T. 7 S., R. 102 W. <br />at an elevation of 5,493 feet is: <br />Al 0 to 6 inches; brown (lOYR 5/3) gravelly loam, dark <br />brown (lOYR 4/3)moist; medium fine platy structure; <br />slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky and <br />• slightly plastic; calcareous; 15 percent fine gravels; <br />many fine, medium and very fine roots; thin (1 inch) <br />peaty horizon at 3 to 4 inches; pH 7.7; gradual <br />irregular boundary. <br />AC 6 to 14 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) gravelly loamy <br />sandy, yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4).moist; moderate <br />medium and coarse angular blocky structure; hard, <br />firm, non-sticky and non-plastic; calcareous; 30 <br />percent fine gravels; common fine roots, few medium <br />and coarse roots; pH 8.1; abrupt irregular boundary. <br />C1 14 to 60 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) very gravelly <br />medium and coarse sands, variously colored (lOYR 5/3, <br />4/3) moist; massive structure; hard, firm, non-sticky <br />and non-plastic; very strongly calvareous; few fine <br />gravels; few fine and medium roots, very few coarse <br />
