use is planned for wildlife. The area will be seeded with an
• approved migras_forbs, and shrubs (Table 9.4-3) This vegeta-
tion type 1 provide a nutritious forage for both domestic live-
stock and a number- of wildlife species. Shrub species in the
mixture will also provide cover for smaller wildlife. Planting of
trees and shrubs in selected areas to provide visual screens of the
facilities will provide additional wildlife habitat.
Power for the project will be supplied by a three-phase 25 or 69 Kv
lines. To prevent accidental electrocution of L~aptors and other
birds, pole structures will be designed to provide:
o a 60 inch minimum separation of conductors (Figure 9.6-1),
o perch guards, or
o elevated perches (Figures 9.6-2 and 4.6-3).
Power lines are not planned to be constructed across the Colorado
River or in any known major avian flight pattern which might cause
• problems.
No threatened or endangered wildlife species are known to occur in
the Permit Area; therefore, mining operations should not pose a
threat to any such species.
NCIG will consult with DOW and other appropriate agencies to pro-
tect wildlife and will contact DOW if problems should occur with
any species of wildlife.
.
