•
u
4.6.3.2.2
balance. All facilities and/or structures containing fluids of any type will be contained or lined. (Refer
to Section 4.3 for a more detailed discussion). Down gradient wells (OW-8, OW-4L, OW-12, OW-
13, and OW-14) at both sites will monitor ground water quality and quantity.
4.6.3.2.3 Loadout Facility
The Lacy Loadout facility was located within an existing industrial park owned by and developed by
the D&RG. A down gradient monitoring well was installed to provide documentation of any possible
impacts to groundwater quality. Since no activity occurred at the loadout facility and the mining
operation is currently in the reclamation phase, the monitoring well (I,O-Ol) was sealed and reclaimed
during May 1995. The Lacy Loadout Facility was removed from the permit by TR-014 in 1997.
4.6.3.3 Ongoing Ground Water Monitoring
Groundwater monitoring continued during the period in which mining has been inactive, as
summarized in the Hydrologic Reports for 1987 through 1994. In June 1988 the Operator requested
and received approval from the Division for a revision in the monitoring requirements to more fully
recognize the actual field and mining conditions. The mine site was reclaimed during 1994. As a
result of the mine reclamation the groundwater monitoring ceased at the end of 1994. The revised
monitoring requirements are sumrarized in Table 4.6-1 and the well locations are provided in Figure
4.6-4. The condition of the existing monitoring network is summarized in Table 4.6-2.
NCIO -Coal Ridge No. 1
4-84
12/12/96
