SOx 881215 <br />Steamboat Springs, CO 8048E <br />ATTN: Richard Tifft <br /> <br />REFER 70 <br />For Wildlife - <br />For Peoyle <br />RE: Request for Letter of Review of Notice of Intent & Federal Coal <br />Exploration License application. <br />Dear Mr. Tifft: <br />I have reviewed the Notice of Intent (N02) and Federal Coal <br />Exploration License (FCEL) filed with the State of Colorado and <br />Bureau of Land Management in regards to potential wildlife impacts <br />from coal exploration activity south of Hayden Colorado. I offer <br />the following comments on the basis of the information contained in <br />those documents. <br />THREATENED AND SNDANGERED SPECIES <br />There is no known critical habitat for any Federal or State <br />threatened or endancered (T6cH) specie with n the proposed boundary <br />of the area of exploration. While the Sald Eagle and Greater <br />5;3adhill Crane may visit the area on an infrequent basis there are <br />no anticipated negative impacts to either specie as a result of the <br />proposed exploration. <br />SENSITIVE SPECsIE SPECIES OF SPECIAL CONCERN <br />The Sage Grouse and Columbian Sharp-Tailed Grouse are two species <br />of special concern that are found within the proposed area of <br />exploration. Areas of critical habitat for these species have been <br />communicated to The Whitewood Geological Group, Inc. in <br />previous communications.
