Engineers' Comment~ikeview Quarry •
- Per-Letter of April 12, 1979
Page 5.
Question 114--Comment Continued
{a) Continued.
fertilizing, and pruning. This would create an asthetic barrier
from the industrial site and a physical barrier from the wildlife
area. Little wildlife will intrude into an area heavily occupied
by man.
(b) As was previously suggested, the site will initially be relatively
smooth at a constant grade. Some natural revegetation may occur
from the time mining has terminated until the time industrial site
development takes place. Should the development not occur, the
area could receive limestone fines as a topsoil substitute, required
fertilizer, and seeding. This would follow the same recommendations
used in the wildlife area.
Question 115: A reclamation timetable that clearly indicates the phases
of reclamation in each area and the anticipated dates when reclamation
in each phase will be initiated and completed.
Comment: Reference is made to the Reclamation Plan Map forwarded to your
office (Exhibit F) for location of tracts. See Attachment No. 4 for
Reclamation Timetable.
Reclamation Experiment Area (2 Acres):
Transplant shrubs, grasses and small trees from undisturbed areas
within the mining perimeter. Project to begin in the Winter of 1980.
(See Attachment No. 2 for location.)
Tract "A" (81 Acres):
As the mining is completed in each 10 to 12 acres the three year
reclamation program will begin and continue for the entire life of
the mine. A one-year break period between each 10 acres will allow
for the mining operations to advance.
Tract "A-1" (3 Acres):
Reclamation to begin in 1982 and continue for a three year reclamation
period.
Tract "A-1" (11 Acres):
Reclamation to begin after the mining operation of the entire mine is
near completion. This is the future headquarters for the mining
operation. ~,
