Getches, Ezecutrve Director
~ III IIIIIIIiilllllll ~
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTO N, Director
December 12, 1983
Mr. Gilbert F. Rindahl
Rindahl and Associates
2305 South Syracuse Way
Suite 217
Denver, Colorado 80231
RE: R.E. Monks Plant No. 1, File No. 83-193
Dear phi:
I have reviewed your reply to my adequacy letter concerning the 11'2
permit application for the above captioned operation. Many of the
question areas have been answered; however, substantial problem areas
remain. As usual, I will only comment on those question areas that I
feel have not been fully answered, using the same exhibit letter and
question number designations as in my original adequacy letter. Any
questions not expanded upon further in this letter are considered
adequate now. If we can bring these matters to a resolution some time
tomorrow (or perhaps Wednesday), tnis matter can still be considered
during the December 14-15, 1983 meeting. As of now, it is scheduled far
the morning of lednesday, December 14, 1983 in Wyer Auditorium of the
Denver Public Library at 1357 Broadway.
You have not provided a discussion of the interaction of this proposed
permit with the adjacent Pioneer Sand Company operation. Specifically,
the Board will need to be told how the mining plan, and, more
significantly, the reclamation plan will interact with the pans for
Pioneer Sand Company's operation. Furthermore, as we discussed before
this application was submitted, this permit application cannot be
approved until and unless Pioneer Sand Company amends or revises their
~J,(.Q permit which includes the 35 acres of this proposed area (as well as
other adjacent acreage) to remove this 35 acre area. To date, notning
has been submitted by Pioneer Sand Company. Please discuss this entire
issue. (Permit issuance could be contingent upon receipt of an
appropriate technical revision or amendment application from Pioneer Sand
Company.)
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
