• EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
Please refer to the original permit application as amended for background
hydrology information.
The construction activities onsite have had significant effects on
the surface hydrology of the area. The following discussion outlines the steps
which will be taken to control and to minimize inpacts on surface hydrology.
1. Davis Gulch
The construction of the Davis Gulch Dam has been postponed.
A spillway will be added to he existing cofferdam, which serves as a sediment
control structure for most of the plateau disturbance areas.
Permanent and interim reclamation of the areas upstream of the Davis
Gulch dam location have been described previously in combined Exhibits D & E.
These efforts are scheduled to commence in the fall of 1982.
2. Middle Fork
The existing sediment pond at the upper end of the mine bench will be
retained at least until upstream construction and reclamation activities are
completed.
A review of the hydrology of the Middle Fork watershed and the hydraulics
of the dam itself has shown that adequate flood protection for downstream areas,
notably the mine bench, can be achieved by construction of a dam of lesser
height than that originally approved. The reduced dam is currently being
designed and is scheduled for construction in 1983 and 1984. Since the State
Engineer's office has the responsibility for approving dam designs, the design
. information wi]1 be submitted to the State Engineer for approva] before con-
PD 1000.102 B8
