. All-Hit Cover. Percent of dte ground surface covered by all living plant parts without regazd
to whether they ate overlapped by other plant species. All plant species "hit" in vertical
projection of a sampling point, even those beneath other spedes, aze named and count
toward the percent cover reported. When all plant species present aze considered, these data
may add to mote than 100 %. With respect to point-intercept cover sampling, "all-bit" data
account for interceptions of a projected point with all species, whether or not they were the
first encountered in the vertical descent of the point Note that multiple hits on the same
species aze not named.
Herbaceous Species. Plant species in the native annual and biennal fortis, introduced
annual and biennial fortis, native annua[ grass, introduced annua[ grass, native perennial (orbs,
introduced perennial (orbs, native perennial cool-season grasses and grass-like, introduced
perennial cool-season grass, and ferns lifeforms. Subshmbs, shrubs, and trees aze not
included. Fungi, mosses, lichens and algae aze also not included.
All-Hit Total Herbaceous Vegetation Coven Summed percent cover of all herbaceous
\J
Cover data will include "fast-hit" and "ail-hit" cover by species (both absolute and relative values),
species encountered based on "all-hit" data.
total vegetation cover and cover values for litter, rock, and baze ground. If present, cover 6y mosses
and lichens will also be tallied.
Production: Production data will be collected as total current year's herbaceous standing clop
biomass. In sampling for bond release, harvested biomass will be separated by lifefotm. Shmb or tree
production will not be sampled. Values will be expressed as gm per 0.5 sq. m. and lbs/ac.
Woody Plant Density: The density of shrubs and trees will be sampled in reclaimed areas.
Concentrated shrub and tree planting azeas will be delineated and sampled separately from the general
reclamation. Values will be presented as stems per 100 sq.m. and stems per acre. No sampling of
woody plant density of reference areas is anticipated, since the standards aze not related to reference
azea conditions.
Speces List A list of all plant species observed during sampling will be developed Information on
. currently used scientific names, common names, as well as scientific synonyms, hfeforms, and origin
(native or introduced) will be included.
ra-gin 41 aPVc~P,t Hams
