I would appreciate <br />your thought as to whether or not this would become a blanket <br />commitment as we will no doubt cross under the highway in the <br />future at greater depth. We do not want to commit to steel arches <br />in every instance where we cross under the highway. <br />l9ith regard to rock mechanics data to support one year of monitoring, <br />LJSC discussed and agreed with C14LR staff that cessation of subsidence <br />monitoring would occur after we have demonstrated a reasonable <br />period of time (one to two years) without significant subsidence <br />movement. (I consider significant subsidence movement to be of <br />the order of one-half foot per quarter. To date we have not experienced <br />subsidence of this nature.) If CMLR is still willing to abide by <br />the earlier agreement, I feel that we can reduce the amount of <br />
