Box 1526
Salt La}:e City, Utah 84110
Dear P1:
~,,~~~ i3
~ ~~~s~~~
r~;AY 6 1981
WESTERN SLOPE CARBON, INC.
?n response to your letter dated April 22, 1981 we x.211 set uo a Subsidence
!bnitoring Program. on a cuarterly basis beginning with flay 1, 1981 and will
continue to nonitor on or aro.rid t}se .first day of each three rmnth period
orith a field check of each station. A revert of our `i~aings will be for-
warded to you within ten (10) days. IIurino the winter months when snow
conditions prevent vehicle travel to the upper stations a check of the lower
stations will be made and snow machines will be used to trv and reach the
upper stations. T:'e will note in each report the reason for not showing
• a particular station. -
"_Rie problem with points C and D North of State Hichwav 133 occurred
when the man in charge of this project left our emnlorrn~t, i'nere was
a field error in his work at the time we su}mitted our report and t}~re-
fore, we did not shv~r these stations.
Last Fall while locatinc points for the new area Nor'rh of highway 133
we wire also over in the old 2-Fast area. I instructed the crews to shoot
in all old points that the~~ were able to find while in the area, No effort
H.as made to clear brush or rehabilitate points not readily available at
that titre. Later on in the year when w~ c~-e reeuested to rronitor the old
stations an attempt ~.+as rode with 9x4 vehicles to reach the points. A
boulder had slipped across the road preventing access. T;fien the boulder
was re,~uved we aq_ain tried but mud conditicns made it im*~ossible to reach
the area. A_`ter this attempt I sent you tl~ information then available
in hopes it would suffice until Spring.
T~~ith a regular program of monitoring every three months we will have a
?otter chance of gathering the data OS~7 and CAST'. rewire. In the next
report I grill list what is physically set at each station.
I ho;~e this answers any c_uestions you may have at this titre.
• Sincerely yours,
E.
