.' ~~
Our test run produced the sample sent to AccuLabs for measurements. The WAD cyanide of
the sample was 0.068 mg/I. The attached tabulation compares the results of this Pond 4C
sample with the data provided to you in May for Ponds 5 and SA and which served as the basis
for approval of the mix of Ponds 5 and SA for use within the permit area. Please note that for
purposes of presenting the worst-case situation, we measured total recoverable (rather than
dissolved) concentrations for the 4C sample. As you know from past data, the Total
Recoverable species is often much higher than either the potentially dissolved or dissolved
species.
At present we have about 3.5 million gallons in storage in pond 4C. We would anticipate using
this source on mine haul roads until the Victor water supply line is complete and then using it
when conditions are arid enough to merit supplemental use from this location.
If questions arise, please do not hesitate to call. Obviously use of this water in this manner will
benefit the operation as a whole both by dust control and by further ensuring adequate retention
capability for the Victor Pads as we initiate draindown and closure in the near fiiture. We would
appreciate your assistance in starting to use this water, after trteatment, sometime next week.
Tha you for your kind attention.
Si ly, l ,
ohn .Hardaway
ager Environmental Affairs
Attachment: a/s
FILE: CC&VSTIP.[g7
2
