Scenario 8: West Cell Mining and Post Mining (Isolated) -This scenario simulates the mining of all
of Tucson South without the influence of the Challenger Pit and Baseline Mine. The purpose of this
scenario is to determine the effects of only this proposed mine.
Table 3: Summary of Scenarios
Status ojVariables For Each Scenario
Variable 1 la 2 3 4
Old Seltzer Well on on on off off
New Seltzer Well off off off on on
Greenhouse Wells on on on on on
Ro ers Unlined Cell dewater lake lake lake dewater
Challen er Pit - - - - dewater
Tucson South: East Cell - - - - -
Tucson South: West Cell - - - - -
Tucson South: SW Cell - - - - -
Baseline Mine - - - - -

Scenario Description
calibration calibration
dewater off no
mining new Seltzer
"existing
conditions"
Early Mining
Status of Variables For Each Scenario
Variable 5 6 6max 7 8
Old Seltzer Well off off Off off off
New Seltzer Well on on MAX on on
Greenhouse Wells on on on on on
Ro ers Unlined Cell fines fines Fines fines fines
Challen er Pit dewater no flow no flow - -
Tucson South: East Cell no flow no flow no flow no flow no flow
Tucson South: West Cell - no flow no flow - no flow
Tucson South: SW Cell lake fines fines lake fines
Baseline Mine dewater lake lake - -
Scenario Description east cell post mine Post
mine east cell
isolated post mine
isolated
Figures 5-14 show the relative change in water levels between the pre-mining existing conditions
(scenario 3) and subsequent scenarios. In the figures, positive contours show increases in water level
(mounding) while negative contours show decreases (drawdown). .
Figures 5 and 6 show the maximum simulated change in alluvial groundwater levels for scenario 4, the
early mining stage during the wet and dry seasons, respectively. The figures show that the dewatering
of the Challenger and southern portion of the Rogers Pit has a significant impact. The zone of notable
drawdown (more than 2 feet) extends about 7600-8000 feet north-south and 3800-4300 feet east-west
during the wet and dry seasons respectively. The maximum simulated drawdown is 16 feet during the
dry season and 18 feet during the wet season. The greater drawdown during the wet season is the result
of having to keep a constant low water level around mines during dewatering even though groundwater
- 9 - August 2004
I-.U919 019\TS G W Mode~TS Repon\TU¢an South R~ DreR.doc
