• Freezing temperatures can occur during any month of the year <br /> resulting in a short growing season. <br />Average annual precipitation is approximately 16 inches. <br />Recorded temperature extremes approach 100oF in the summer and -SOoF <br />in the winter. !lore detailed weather information is discussed under <br />Rule 2.04.8. <br />Topography within the proposed permit area is characterized by <br />gently to moderately eloping hills with east and west exposures. <br />Elevations vary from 6,500 to 7,000 feet above mean sea level. <br />• Major native plant species begin their growth in mid-April and <br />are in the main phase of growth by mid-May. Peak flowering is <br />reached around July 1st. Letterman's needlegrass~ bluebunch <br />wheatgrasa and western wheatgrasa peak flowering about July 15th. <br />A comparison was made between plant species identified within <br />the proposed permit area (See Table 16, Plant Species <br />Identification) and the rare and endangered plant species identified <br />in the Plant Identification Network (PIN) report of Colorado State <br />IIniversity and a document submitted to D.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Service by Ecology Consultants, Inc., Fort Collins Colorado titled <br />"An illustrated Guide to the Proposed Threatened and Endangered <br />Plant Species in Colorado". None of the species identified as rare <br />• or endangered have been observed in the vicinity of the proposed <br />permit area. <br />2.04-72 <br />
