• RESPONSE:
A detailed description of the geology of the proposed permit
area, the adjacent area, and the general area is contained under
Rule 2.04.6. The general area, with respect to ground water, is
delineated by a topographic, structural and ground water basin know
as Twentymile Park. The boundary of this basin was defined by
selecting an early identifiable member bed, the Trout Creek
Sandstone, which is hydraulically separate from the strata that was
disturbed by mining. This stratigraphic base of the basin is the
contact of the Williams Fork and the Iles Formations.
A comprehensive description of the hydrology of all lands in
• the proposed permit area, the adjacent area, and the general area is
presented under Rule 2.04.7. The narrative addresses the surface
and ground water system in terms of water quantity and quality
parameters.
The "general area" as defined in Rule 1.0451) is the
topographic and ground water basin that surrounds the proposed
permit area. The basin is of sufficient size, including areal
eatent and depth, to include one or more waterhsheda containing
perennial streams and ground water systems. This allows assessment
of the probable cumulative impacts on the quantity and quality of
surface and ground water systems in the 2wentymile Park basin. Both
• "adjacent area' and the proposed "permit area", as defined in Rule
1.04, lie within the "general area" as previously described.
2.04-15
