• No springs or other major ground water discharge points occur in the <br />mine plan area. Surface water supplies are Limited by temporal flow <br />in the ephemeral and intermittent streams and the wall number of <br />ponds or other impoundments. These limited water supplies and <br />productivity in the mine plan and adjacent area necessitate that <br />land use be restricted to rangeland, pastureland and dryland crop <br />production. <br />C3) The application shall state whether the proposed permit area <br />has been previously mined, and if so, the following information, if <br />available: <br />(a) The type and description of mining method used; <br />• (b) The coal seams or other mineral strata mined; <br />(c) The extent of coal or other mineral removed; <br />(d) The approximate dates of past mining; and <br />(e) The uses of the land preceding mining. <br />(f) The location and extent of acreage disturbed by previous <br />surface coal mining and reclamation operations. <br />BESPONSE: <br />Surface coal mining operations were initiated at Energy Hine <br />No. 3 in 1974. A truck-shovel mining technique vas utilized to <br />remove overburden and eacavate the Wadge coal seam during the years <br />1975 through September 1980. <br />• <br />2.04-11 <br />
