<br />EXHIBIT D <br />MINING PLAN <br />The following is a general description of the Mining Plan lobe followed by Custer County Highway <br />Depanmem in the operation of the "Custer Counn• Gravel Pit (M-09i)". <br />PERMIT AREA DESCRIPTION: <br />The arcs covered by the Pre-Mining map (Exhtbu C) represents a quarter section which is <br />entirely owned by Cuslcr County It totals approximately 1G0 acres. <br />The rtheasrquaner of that area (approxintatety 10 acres) is permitted and currently being used <br />as a Solid Waste Disposal Facility known as the "Custer County Landfill". <br />~~ lu th ~AIII ILlnvesl quancr of the Pre-Mining Map is the "PERMIT AREA". A current section <br />sun~cc was not performed for Ibis application: a buffer zone of approximately filly(SU) feet is <br />indicated on the west edge behrccn the tenet on the quancr section line and the "PERMIT <br />AREA" boundan' to allow for any ~-ariancc in the boundan line location. All gravel pit work <br />and vehicular movemem will be performed within the area bounded by the "PERMIT AREA" <br />~~ boundan. The area within tttc "PERMIT AREA" is approxtmately X025 acres. <br />v Test pill and bore bolts were dug during the field investigation for the Solid Waste Disposal <br />Facility. Ihrce of the test pits were dug within the gravel pit "PERMIT AREA". The gravel exists <br />in rrregular layers along wuh lenses and lavers o(sand. silt and silty sand. Occasionally clay was <br />e ~ encountered. "Pre-Mining Map" which shows the overall area and indicates names of adjacent <br />lando~~ ncrs. <br />2. "Mining Maps" indicating the "PERMIT AREA" to three phases o(Ihe mining <br />operation proceeding iu a clockwise direction titled the "Beginning Grading Plan", <br />t "Interutednue Grading Plan", and "Petal Grading Plmi'. ~~n <br />C,~P/ ~ M On the Maps the contours are shown using twcnty(20) feel imenals. / ' I / <br />' V S r~t~~ ~ q 1 <br />,~,~t~"J -' The slopes arc notated Cor example as "1:3 SLOPE", indicating a I foot RISE to a 3 foot RUN. <br />MINING DESCRIPTION: <br />Mining will be of the "Open Pit" h~pe Normal equipmem for such operations will be used: a <br />bulldozer, a from end loader, a back hoe and several dump tntcks. A portable crusher and <br />screens will also be used. No blasting will be required or used at the site. <br />k hh ~ (-, As shown on the "Beginning Grading Plan" the "Staging" arcs will be striped of overburden. A <br />bulldozer and/or front cud loader will be used to mo ~ d ile the to soil in the area labeled <br />~ "Overburden Stockpile". It is estimated that m wer•tec of Iwelve(12) inche oftopsoil will be <br />removed ofT of the surface. As much tap soil as is practically possible will be saved for reuse. <br />The maximum estimated volume of topsoil to be stockpiled will result in a pile approximately <br />
