MINIIV(i PLAN EXHI&T D {CONT)
will be removed to create a level floor area covering approxi-
mately 13.19 acres. The slopes in to the mine will cover the
remaining 20.20 acres t of disturbed area.
The Plant Site will move with mining to keep it as close to
the mine face as possible we estimate that 5.00 acres will be
needed for stockpiling and processing on this site. Once the
processing equipment is set up, approximately 5.00 acres will be
stripped adjacent to the Plant Site, this is where mining will
begin. Since mostly portable equipment will be used to process
material the location of the plant will move around the mine
floor so no high spots will be left.
The processing plant will not discharge anything that would
affect the surface or ground water quality except dirty water.
This water will be directed to the silt ponds and contained on
the mining area. Atypical settling pond layout is shown on
EXHIBIT D-2 on page 10. This will create a closed system for
washing gravel and only the water retained in the finished
product will need to be replaced. If fuel is stored on the site
a small containment berm will be placed around the fueling
facility to keep anything spills contained. The size of the berm
will be engineered to contain the amount of fuel stored in the
area. There will be adequate sand to absorb spills and any
contaminated material will be disposed of properly. Current
BMP's will be used at all times for this operation.
The slopes will be shaped to the setback distances and will
be ready for soiling and planting as mining reached the outer
limits. Along the property line the setback will be 25 feet; on
the powerline ROWS the dig-line will start 5 feet from the ROW
line, this will leave 15 feet on the mining side the ROW. Our
plan to mine the slopes at their final rate adjacent to any
structure, will eliminate any chance that these structures will
be affected by mining. MAP EXHIBIT C AND EXHIBITS contain information
on all structures within 200 feet of the mined area.
As mining progresses across the property, additional area
will be stripped ahead of the mine face and the topsoil needed
for reclamation will be stockpiled along the setbacks around the
mine area. In addition, the salvaged topsoil may be used on
areas ready for resoiling or placed in topsoil piles for use when
reclamation begins in the area where it was removed.
