Revised 12/21/82
•
mining. Plate 17 shows the location and size of the various sedimentation
ponds. Upon completion of the mining, these ponds will be removed. Topsoil
will be stripped off and the ponds graded to final contours as shown on
Plate 20. The topsoil will then be put back and seeded with the Inix listed
in the reclamation plan. The office-shop complex will be removed following
cessation of mining and the areas reclaimed to the standard of the reclamation
planned for adjacent areas on the Bourg property.
Mining Techniques. The overburden will be ripped with large bulldozers
and removed with large scrapers. In the stripping operation, a small amount
of coal is bound to be mixed with the overburden. This amount will be kept
to a minimum.
Nearby mines lightly blast the coal, and if necessary the coal at
the Bourg property will be drilled and lightly blasted with ammonium nitrate
• explosives. It was noted in the coring of the coal that it is unusually
fractured, pl•obably due to the tight folding and to the faulting. Therefore,
it Inay well prove unnecessary to blast the coal.
If blasting becomes necessary, a blasting plan will be submitted to the
MLR for approval at least sixty (60) days prior to the initiation of the
Y blasting program. The nearest ranch houses are 2§ miles away to the north-
east at the Streit Ranch. The other nearest buildings frequented by people
are at the Continental Oil Company installation 2; miles to the northwest.
It is planned either to load rear-dump irightvay trucks in the pit
with a portable crusher and to haul the coal directly to market or to
haul the cgqoal to the hlorthgate loadout for crushing and to transport to
.u4!
