2.04.10 Vegetation Information
• The various plan communities found within the permit area are
delineated on the Vegetation Map (Map 3). Four basic plant
communities were identified:
1) Mountain Shrub
2) Riparian
3) Douglas Fir
4) Aspen
The areas to be affected by the surface facilities of the planned
underground mining consist primarily of riparian and mountain
shrub vegetation.
As mentioned earlier, the area to be used for the surface facil-
ities of the Bear No. 3 Portals has been previously disturbed by
past operations of an underground operation. Therefore, at the
recommendation of the Division, no site specific vegetation
survey was conducted.
The planned surface disturbance of the facilities at the Bear No.
3 Portals is limited to approximately 8.4 acres. This area has
been previously affected; in conversations with the Division, the
standards of a pre-mining vegetation survey were waic•ed in lieu
of this past disturbance. The success of revegetation will be
based upon the results of the soils testing and determined in
accordance with the recommendations of the Division.
•
• 2.04-43
Revised June 29, 1990
